Chuck (Adam Sandler) and Larry (Kevin James) are best buddies and work together in New York City’s Fire Department. When widower Larry discovers that he is unable to name his two offspring as beneficiaries for his life insurance, Chuck steps in to repay a favour. All he has to do is pretend to be Larry’s gay life partner on some forms and the problem is solved. Predictably, this is not as simple as it sounds. Trouble emerges in the form of a city investigator Clinton Fitzer (Steve Buscemi) who decides to investigate a little further and the story is blown open by the press city wide. They hire a foxy lawyer (Jessica Biel) to help them circumvent Fitzer and his snooping.
